Top Ten in The Senior Open presented by Rolex It\'s a very strong field, lots of Major Champions and great players. So it\'s going to be a good, fair, stern test

Darren made his first apperance in The Senior Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes this week where he finished in a tie for 10th.

He shot rounds of 68 68 73 and 71, leaving him on level par for the event, which was hindered by atrocious weather over the weekend. Germany's Bernhard Langer won the tournament on six under par.

Some quotes from Darren during the week. "This is my first one, and it's nice to come back to Lytham again. I played the last one here and I've been fortunately to play three previous Opens here. The course is wonderful, it's still as tough as it's ever been. The course is in great shape and it will be a very good week".

"2001 was probably the best I've every played in any tournament at Lythem when David won here, I made a double bogey on the 17th hole on the 71st hole, so I'll try and avoid that this week if I can".

"It's a very strong field, lots of Major Champions and great players. So it's going to be a good, fair, stern test. I'm not averse to a bit of wind and from what I've seen it will change direction over the week, so we'll see all aspects of the golf course".

Following his second round he said, 'I played nicely. Just the start was a little bit so-so but I kept giving myself chance after chance around the back side, didn't really make any, and then unfortunately missed a short one on the last which always stings a little bit. The way my swing feels and the way I'm striking the ball, I'm very pleased with'

'I've been hitting it well now for quite some time but putting - I've been trying to work away at it and get a feel and knock a few in. It's frustrating when you come off the golf course and feel as you've taken as many as you possibly can and you left four or five out there and that's what I do every day, which is somewhat frustrating but that's professional golf. That's the way it is. You have to keep working at it. One of these day I'll have a hot day on the greens and everything will be wonderful again'.
