Darren made an emotional return to Royal St George's where he won The Open Championship in 2011.
Playing with Bernd Wiesberger and amateur Joe Long, the 52-year-old impressed with a solid 71 on the opening day but slipped to a missed cut with a 75 on Friday, given a huge reception on the 18th green.
After Friday's round, Darren said: "I didn't play well. I didn't hit the ball well and I got what I deserved. I've been playing a lot better than that so I'm disappointed."
Earlier in the week, Darren was the centre of attention as he made his first outing in Kent since his famous win.
Reliving 2011, he said: "It was nice driving in and seeing the house we stayed in and where we had the party on the Sunday night. I have lot of very special memories of getting my hands on the Claret Jug.
"If there was ever one golf tournament that I wanted to win it was the Open Championship so I'm very fortunate I was able to achieve my ambition and I'm extremely proud of that."
Darren now moves on to Sunningdale for the Senior Open Championship - his fourth major in five weeks.
